Works really well on wet sand beaches too.
For the price you can buy these for used they are a real bargain especiallyif you need a machine that you can use on a beach and on wet sand.
At 4 pounds in weight, they don't actually feel that heavy to use as theyare well balanced.
They are built like a tank, and my used machine - although clearly used wasin perfectly good working order and cosmetically very good considering itsage now.
Can be bought used now for anything from £150 to £250 or sometimes more, depending on how much the seller wants and how much the buyer is willing topay.
Not a common machine to find for sale now, but people that have these putaway in their wardrobes or garages are starting to realise that now is agood time to sell them, as they are still fetching good money especiallyif they are in good cosmetic condition.
Originally costing $1095. 00 new, which is about £675. 00 in English moneytoday, so an expensive detector for the time they were first sold back inabout 1998, so these can be over 20 years old now!.
A dual frequency machine that has a 5kHz and a 15kHz dual frequency, thisis what makes it a great detector on wet sand.
A good option then if you can't quite afford a Minelab Sovereign GT yet!,the CZ7a will see you by as great starting out detector for the money, solong as you don't mind buying a used machine that will not have anywarranty.
Simple to operate, and can easily been learnt if you are a beginner with alittle bit of research on using the machine, reading the manual and readingup on metal detecting in general. Although nothing can beat actuallygetting out and using the machine to gain experience with it.
OK better finish now, I wrote this from a beginners point of view and froma beginners experience in metal detecting, so I apologise for any mistakesif any in what I have written.
Time +knowledge = finds with this machine. Like others have said, you will alwaysdig trash to get the good stuff. Pick up a used one and try the notchbuttons on the touch pad screen to just look for coins, or release to pickup the signals for pop tabs and foil when at the beach, might just find aring or two, use in salt water or fresh, with the 7a pro you can detach thebox and wade up to your butt in the surf. Do the research, grab your CZ 7aand go have some fun. Best fun for the money spent. If all you find ismodern coins until you get more experience take this money and buy a coinor gold that will grow in value. We all have our own learning curve. I havecome home with rashes on my legs from carrying the coins in my pantspockets found with this machine. Buy one and take your grandchildern'treasure hunting'
You will always find coins with this machine. You will find rare coins, youwill find jewlery with this machine. Best of all you will find fun. I havethe CZ7a and the CZ7a pro. I do not work for Fisher Corporation, Enjoy!
Supposedly there's complaints about it missing some valuable targets. Newer cz's have the problem fixed.
Doesn't ignore Iron as well as high end Minelabs do.
Its heavy, but can be hip mounted.
The tones are easy to distinguish.
If you're looking at buying one of these now: I hope you're not going tospend more than $250 for it..For $300 + I say get a used Soivereign, preferably with a meter.

Fisher has created popular detectors such as the Fisher F75, which packs tons of advanced features into a mid-price range metal detector. The Fisher Gold Bug 2 is an excellent detector for any gold prospectors with its ultra-high operating frequency, allowing it to easily find the smallest of gold nuggets.
$1000Fisher Type H120 direct-operated relief valve has a preset and pinned spring retainer. The inlet pressure registers directly on a spring-opposed poppet assembly, which includes a Nitrile (NBR) disk. When the inlet pressure increases above the spring setting, the poppet and disk assembly is pushed away from the metal seat. Cz7a pro beats my buddies mine lab e-trac
My buddy has an E-trac, more often than not I'm finding good targets hegets an iffy signal on. I bought my Fisher from him so he could buy theminelab. He misses it still after several years. He bought the fisher newin 1999. Frequently I Hunt wide open with no discrimination and have goodresults. On old house sites I go ahead and notch out iron. I wish I had afew more of these machines for extras. I recently found an 1815 Spanish 1/2Real at 7 or 8 inches in a plowed field.Max Depth: 11 inches on US quarter

Fisher Metal Detector
CZ7a - fast, easy, all around detector
The Cz7a has been a real treat to own and use. I have found like allmachines you must get to know it for it to be of any use. Once you know howto operate and use the fun begins. I have found things such as a buriedwomens purse with gold necklace inside (20 years buried)at 5 inches deep, gold ladies ring (gave foil signal)lost at park, owner found, 1876 Indianpenny, old military buttons,at a road construction site 7 inches deep,1916lincoln Penny at 8 inches deep, all around detector.Time +knowledge = finds with this machine. Like others have said, you will alwaysdig trash to get the good stuff.
